Section 975 - Weapons and Dangerous Devices
Section 975:00. Discharge of Firearms. No person shall shoot or discharge any firearm, air rifle, sling shot or any instrument used to expel at high velocity any pellets, darts, arrows, or projectiles of any kind within the corporate limits of this municipality, except as specifically authorized in Section 975:05 herein. eff. 8/7/01
Section 975:05. Exclusions.
Subd. 1. The discharge of firearms and other weapons as prohibited in Section 975:00 shall not apply to the persons set forth in the subdivisions which follow.
Subd. 2. Persons duly authorized to act as law enforcement officers, or members of the military forces of the United States or the State of Minnesota in the discharge of their duties.
Subd. 3. Persons engaged in archery, target or trap shooting on archery, target or trap shooting ranges approved as such by the Council.
Subd. 4. Persons acting in self-defense when the use of firearms for that purpose would not be unlawful under the laws of the State of Minnesota.
Section 975:10. Bird and Animal Protection. No persons shall rob, injure or destroy any bird's nests within the limits of any park or parkway within the corporate limits of this municipality, nor aim or discharge any air gun, sling shot or other weapon, or throw any stone or other missile at any bird or bird's nest or wild animal within a park or parkway within the corporate limits of this municipality, nor in any manner capture or kill any bird or wild animal therein.
Section 975:15. Traps, Etc. Prohibited. No persons shall at any time set, lay, prepare or have in possession any trap, snare, artificial light, net, bird line, ferret or other contrivance whatever for the killing, capturing or taking of any bird or wild animal within any park or parkway within the corporate limits of this municipality.
Section 975:20. Concealed Deadly Weapon. Entire section repealed by Ordinance 1511 dated 4/01/14.
Section 975:25. Penalty. Any person or persons violating the provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty of a penal offense, and upon conviction thereof, in addition to fine or imprisonment or both, any weapons used or carried and the carcass of any bird or animal taken shall be seized and impounded and destroyed or otherwise disposed of on order of any court of competent jurisdiction.City Code Index
