JOB TITLE: Guest Services

DEPARTMENT: Parks and Recreation

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Facility Manager

DIRECTION OF OTHERS: None

NATURE OF WORK: Perform duties necessary for the day to day operation of the River Springs Water Park, West Hills Tennis & Fitness Center, Brooktree Clubhouse, SeniorPlace or Parks and Recreation Office.  General overall set-up, maintenance and up-keep of the facilities, equipment and amenities.
 

Duties / Responsibilities:

WORK PERFORMED/AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

I. Provide quality customer service
A. Serve and assist customers in an effective, efficient and professional manner
B. Understand facility rates, programs, and hours of operation
C. Answer phone calls in a timely and courteous manner
D. Use clear communication with vendors and other staff members

II. Prepare and sell concession products, facility admissions, memberships and general merchandise.

III. Complete records and reports as required by supervisor.

IV. Inspect facility and equipment on a daily schedule and report any unsafe conditions to supervisor.

V. Monitor facility use including customer supervision, safety checks, and enforcement of the City of Owatonna, Parks and Recreation Department and the facility policies and procedures.

VI. Maintain a clean facility.

VII. Attend meetings and trainings as scheduled.

VIII. Understand procedures for weather, medical, environmental and other emergencies.  Give direction in emergency situations.  Assist in basic first aid and other needs.

IX. Perform opening and closing duties of facility.

X. Promote the facility and other Owatonna Parks and Recreation programs.

XI. All other duties that apply.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Ability to work with public; knowledge of computer operations; ability to work independently; age requirements dependent on location (must be at least 18 years old at Brooktree; all other areas must be at least 15 years old).

EQUIPMENT AND TOOL OPERATION

I. Employee must be capable of operating miscellaneous office, safety, janitorial and other equipment relative to this position which shall include but may not be limited to: personal computer, copier, fax machine, communication equipment, Point of Sale equipment and related items, and other concessions equipment which shall include but may not be limited to: grills, deep fryer, stove, oven, pizza ovens, donut makers, slushy machines and related items.

WORKING HOURS AND CONDITIONS

I. This is a position with scheduled shifts including days, evening, weekends, and holidays at various facilities and locations including indoor and outdoor, with all types of weather conditions, In compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act.
II. The following represents the Physical and Environmental Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk or hear, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to seventy-five (75) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
