JOB TITLE: Custodian
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Building and Grounds Superintendent
DIVISION: Government Buildings
DIRECTION OF OTHERS: None
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: High School graduate preferably with custodial work experience.
NATURE OF WORK: To perform general cleaning activities and minor maintenance/repairs of governmental buildings
WORK PERFORMED/AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Responsible for the general cleaning of governmental buildings in order to provide pleasant and safe surroundings.
A. Cleans, sweeps, dusts, mops, and/or vacuums the buildings interior
B. Cleans and sanitizes restrooms.
II. Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and facilities.
A. Replaces light bulbs, simple repair work, (i.e. tightening door latch plates, repair chairs, etc) and maintains cleaning equipment.
III. Ensures building security by checking and locking doors and windows, checking lights, and activates security systems before leaving.
IV. Coordinates with building supervisors for building operational activities and special events.
V. Communicates work orders and direction from Building Supervisor and immediate supervisor.
A. Report any damage or repairs to equipment or facility to supervisor
B. Requests cleaning and maintenance supplies from supervisor
VI. Report any personal injury and accidents to supervisor immediately.
VII. Performs related work as apparent or assigned.
A. Respond to any emergency housekeeping needs
EXTENT AND TYPE OF INTERACTION WITH THE PUBLIC:
I. Answers questions of the general public or directs public to the proper employee or locations.
REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS:
I. Valid Minnesota driver�s license
EQUIPMENT AND TOOL OPERATION:
I. All custodial related tools and equipment.
WORKING HOURS AND CONDITIONS:
I. Typically 40 hours per week with afternoon and evening hours.
