Welcome to Owatonna Park and Recreation Winter 2013

It's hard to believe winter is upon us!  Our fall/winter programs are in full swing including Adult Volleyball and Youth Basketball.  Tikes/Squirt Basketball will begin soon and don't forget to register for Winter Swimming Lessons on December 3, 2013.

We look forward to the fun winter family activities this time of the year brings, including ice skating on the River and Warsinski rinks, located at Morehous Park.  The Warsinski Chalet, a large warming house offers cross country skis and skate rentals and food concessions.  Free family bonfires are held Saturday evenings at 5:30PM.  The rinks will be open when weather permits and closed during warm weather.  Chalet hours are:

Monday - Friday: 3:00PM - 9:30PM

Saturday: 11:00AM - 9:30PM

Sunday: 12:00PM - 9:30PM

Holdiays and school vacation days: 11:00AM - 9:30PM

We appreciate your patience as we are registering participants on our new software system – Max Solutions.  This has been and will be a great asset to the Parks and Recreation Department.  Most notably, you are able to register on-line with no extra fees! You will pay the same price if you register in person or on-line. We are very excited to be working with the new system, and in the near future, you will have the ability to reserve park pavilions on-line as well!

Parks and Recreation are vitally important to establishing and maintaining the quality of life in a community, ensuring the health of family’s youth, and contributing to the economic and environmental well-being of a community.  The quotation “The City of Friendliness and Beautiful Parks” is used on the City of Owatonna letterhead.   Your Owatonna Park and Recreation Department is proud of this and to the best of our ability, we will continue to provide service to honor it for the citizens of Owatonna.

For up to date information, keep an eye on this website, as well as the Owatonna Peoples Press, KRFO, KORN and KOWZ radio provide a source of information for our department.  Be sure to like us on Facebook to get up to the minute information on your news feed.

Make time to take advantage of your Parks and Recreation trails, facilities, and programs during this wonderful time of year!  We welcome your comments and suggestions about our facilities and programs.  Let us know how we are doing.

“The Benefits are Endless” as “Your Best Investment” is your Parks and Recreation Department!
