Geo Caching, Fishing Poles and Disc Golf--Equipment Check-out

The Owatonna Park and Recreation applied for a Steele County Public Health Statewide Health Improvement Program (SHIP) grant and was funded to hold “Owatonna’s Weekend Out” which is now held annually in July.     We offer a variety of activities to the public such as geo-caching, fishing day at Lake Chase, disc golf at Mineral Springs Park, and discount admission for the River Springs Water Park. This year the dates ar July 12, 13 and 14, 2013.  Watch for more details at a later date.

This grant helped Owatonna Park and Recreation give more opportunities to the community along with new hobbies, new adventures, and new life changing experiences.  It also gave people the opportunity to get out in nature and do some exercising.  On behave of Owatonna Park and Recreation we would like to thank Steele County Public Health Nursing for giving us the opportunity through this grant to have Owatonna Weekend Out.

Thanks to the SHIP grant, geo-Cash units, fishing poles and disc golf sets are available to check out for individual/families use at the Park and Recreation Office.
