OYFSA & PARKS AND RECREATION SOFTBALL

A partnership with Owatonna Youth Fastpitch Softball Association; these are developmental, skill-based, in-house programs.  Each participant receives a full uniform consisting of shirt, shorts and socks; sizes are needed at time of registration.

LIGHTENING LEAGUE LEVEL 1 (GRADES 2 & 3)

This is an in-house program where all teams are split equally and consist of players 2nd and 3rd grades. 

  • Emphasis on participation and development of funamental softball skills
  • Each participant receives a full Lightening uniform consisting of shirt, shorts, and socks
  • A pitching machine is used
  • Monday and Wednesday Games/Practices

LIGHTENING LEAGUE LEVEL 2 (GRADE 4, 5, & 6)

This is an in-house program where all teams are split equally and consist of players 4, 5, and 6th grades.

  • Emphasis on participation
  • Each participant receives a full LIghtening uniform consisting of shirt, shorts, and socks
  • Development of fundamental softball skills with Player Pitch
  • Tuesday and Thursday Games/Practice

U10 TOURNAMENT TEAM(S)

Fee $120 payable to OYFSA (includes fundraiser)

In addition to our in-house league, players that turn 10 years old during the current year are eligible to play on our U-10 Tournament/Travel Team.  The purpose of this is to introduce girls to tournament play.  There will be 2 week-end tournaments consisting of at least 3 games per tournament.  Teams will be divided equally. Practice schedules will be determined by the coach starting in May. 

OYFSA THUNDER LEAGUE (Ages U12 and U14) & STORM LEAGUE (Ages U16 and U18)

Fees: $225 payable to OYFSA

A competitive travel program divided into age level teams teams (players in their respective age groups cannot turn the next age before January 1, 2014).  A player may play in an older age division, but not younger.  Tryouts are conducted and teams will play in the Southern Star League.  Thunder season starts the beginning of May, Storm league starts at the conclusion of the high school season and both run through the end of July, each team will participate in four tournaments.  Practices and games are held twice per week.  For more information visit www.oyfsa.com.
